Trade and Business Opportunities

Are you a local business looking for opportunities to purchase Australian or New Zealand products?  There are numerous organizations in the US, Australia and New Zealand designed to assist with importing products, exporting products and investment in Australia and New Zealand.

Australia

Australia's trade organization is Austrade (Australian Trade Commision).  Austrade has staff in six consulates, the Embassy and through 12 District offices.  Austrade will assist with business matching services in finding Australian suppliers based on your product or service need.

If you are interested in opening an office in Australia then Invest Australia can assist you.  The nearest office is in San Francisco at the Consulate.

Three Australian states have trade development offices in the US.  Invest Victoria is based in San Francisco, Queensland and Western Australia are based in Los Angeles.  While their primary focus is assisting companies investing in their respective states they represent they will also do trade development.  The state offices have fewer resources than Austrade (whom they will contract with on occasions).

New Zealand

New Zealand Trade and Enterprise has an office in Los Angeles and New York.  As you might suspect they have a much smaller footprint than Australia has.

United States

The US Department of Commerce (DoC) provides assistance to US companies who want to export around the world through US Commercial Services.  There is an office in Seattle and Tacoma.  Like all trade agencies they have offices around the world to assist US companies.  The DoC services are fee based.  They have an office in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Auckland and Wellington.
