McLeod's Daughters

Thanks to the folks at KOCH Vision in Long Island the Australian television series Mcleod's Daugthers is now available for purchase on DVD here in the US (of course in the right format).  Season one is available and the second season will be available in early May.  Also, special thanks to KOCH Vision for a donation to ANZAS as well as providing posters and DVDs for auction at the annual dinner.  We appreciate the support!

About McLeod’s Daughters

Produced by Millennium Television and Nine Films and Television for the Nine Network Australia, and created by Posie Graeme-Evans, McLeod’s Daughters is presently preparing to air its seventh season on Australian television.  The series follows the adventures of Claire and Tess – two half-sisters separated as children and reunited when they inherit Drover’s Run, a large cattle ranch passed down for generations.  Despite their differences, Claire (Lisa Chappell), the independent country girl, and Tess (Bridie Carter), the vivacious city slicker, assemble an all female workforce and face the extraordinary challenges of the land with unwavering heart and humor. Seasons two through six promise more surprises and excitement at Drover’s Run as tensions build between existing characters and new faces are introduced.

An overnight sensation when it premiered on U.S. television, McLeod’s Daughters was described by The New York Times as “Dallas down under, Bonanza with better hair or The Thorn Birds with the sheep but not the priest.”  Entertainment Weekly recommended it as “what to watch,” and The Hollywood Reporter praised the series as “beautifully filmed, stylishly produced and believably conceived.”  The New York Post raved “the show isn’t like anything else on TV…and really, how refreshing to have women’s programming that actually makes female characters smart, savvy, self-sufficient survivors, instead of Desperate Housewives.”

According to KOCH Vision seasons three through six will become available later in 2007.

McLeod’s Daughters: Complete First Season (6 Discs)

This release presents all 22 episodes from the first season of MCLEOD'S DAUGHTERS. Claire (Lisa Chappell) and Tess (Bridie Carter) are the two daughters of the title, and at the beginning of the show they are reunited after a long separation. The reunion is brought about by their joint inheritance of Drover's Run, a cattle farm that has been in their family for many generations. Together, the two gather an all-female group of workers to keep the place going. The show creates some admirably strong, inspirational female characters, and builds its original premise into well-crafted storylines.
