Life is slowly starting to become “Covid Normal” and one of these signs is that this year’s Australian Federal Budget has returned to its usual delivery date in May after being deferred to September last year.

Treasurer Josh Frydenberg last year delivered the largest deficit in Australia’s history as the Government committed to enormous support and stimulus packages to protect the economy which, had moved into recession for the first time in 25 years.

These measures, together with the overall management of Covid19, have given Australia an enviable lifestyle and economy in the year since the global pandemic began reeking havoc on the world.

This year’s budget will be more about building on the efforts of last year, expanding jobs and rebuilding the economy to build a stronger financial platform to manage the debt created through the impact of Covid19.

It is expected that the forecasts of last year should be improved upon, as the impact to the economy was softer than initially expected. So we watch anxiously to see how the Government tackles the future while we continue to live in a restricted travel environment.

We trust this seminar gives you a clearer understanding of the Budget Announcements including:

  • How Covid19 has impacted the Australian Government’s federal finances
  • Measures the Government intends to undertake to reinvigorate the Australian economy
  • Latest taxation changes and how they may impact you and the Australian property market

I trust you enjoy the presentation and welcome you to share it with your friends and associates.

Regards

Steve Douglas

ANZAC Day 2020 Remembrance

Unfortunately the current Corona virus has prevented us from gathering this year on the shores of Lake Union for our ANZAC Day Dawn Service and our gathering of the Australian, New Zealand and Turkish communities in peace and understanding to respect and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in war.  Even though we cannot be together to honor our comrades and mates we can all observe this day of remembrance in our own way.

The dawn services in Australia and New Zealand are not manned by thousands of people who come to pay their respects but rather by loan buglers who herald the dawn this year and the eerie quiet that accompanies it is ominously silent.

To all my Aussie and Kiwi friends in Seattle, let us take a moment to pause and reflect and to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our countries.

Under these difficult times it is worth taking a note from the Australian Prime Minister’s ANZAC day speech as it applies equally to all Aussies and Kiwis;

“This year, the lesson of Anzac Day is that when Australians (& Kiwis) support each other, as they have in generations past, we can withstand any hardship and overcome any enemy, including this virus that threatens us today.”

Stay safe and healthy and perhaps we can gather later to remember and reflect on this 2020 ANZAC day.

Len Reid,

President ANZAS Seattle
